My Services

Whatever it is you write—fiction or non-fiction, book or blog, ad copy or cover letter—chances are you could use a second set of eyes to help improve your work. I offer a range of editorial services to accommodate your personal needs.

Developmental Critiquing

For those who are unsure of their project’s direction or have just completed a rough first draft, a developmental critique can be extremely valuable. I will read your project with a critical eye and evaluate its narrative structure, pacing, characters, and more.

What you'll get:

- A detailed, thorough report describing your project’s strengths and weaknesses, with my suggestions for improvement.

- A lightly marked up version of your document with my comments about particularly impressive or problematic sections.

Intensive Copy Editing

For those who have a strong draft in hand, a copy edit will take your writing from good to great. I will address any mechanical issues apparent in your work, including grammar, spelling, and consistency, and if you choose the intensive copy edit option, I won’t stop there. I’ll cut, rearrange, and reword until your writing absolutely shines.

What you’ll get:

- A heavily marked up document (digital or print—your choice!) with all of my edits!

Light Copy Editing

For those who feel confident about their writing already, I am happy to provide a light copy editing option as well! I will check the mechanics of your work—spelling, grammar, and consistency—without worrying about the nitty-gritty.

What you’ll get:

- A lightly marked up document (digital or print—your choice!) with all of my edits!

If you’re not sure which services best suit your needs, I’d be happy to discuss that with you! A consultation is 100% free.

Resume

I have been involved in the publishing industry for years, so I know what makes writing work!

Testimonials

Kathy Pories, Senior Editor at Algonquin Books

“Talia is an insightful and careful reader on every level. She reads like an editor, a copyeditor, and a proofreader all at the same time, and time after time, I agreed with her perceptive notes and comments. She has extraordinarily strong instincts. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a sharp editor.”

Chuck Adams, Executive Editor at Algonquin Books

“Talia did a great job at Algonquin. She has a strong instinct for finding the weaknesses in a manuscript and offering good and practical suggestions on how to fix those problems.”

Rachel Cowley, Penn State

“I got the highest grade in my class on my last paper thanks to Talia!”
